It’s probably an impossible task to find a superlative list of the 10 prettiest retirement towns in America, but editors at retirement research site Top Retirements gave it a try. To compile this list, they researched smaller towns that have a reputation and the resources to be reasonable places to retire based on housing and services, but did not include budget as a factor. Based on research from CNTraveler, they looked for towns with a town square or green, pleasing architecture, interesting streets, plenty of parks, and college towns or towns with natural settings, such as near mountains or coastline. This list builds on last year’s list of the prettiest retirement towns.
